Associate of Arts for Transfer / Associate of Science for Transfer (AA-T / AS-T)
To earn an associate’s degree for transfer, a student must complete:
• 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the CSU that consist of IGETC or CSU GE breadth.
• A major or area of emphasis of at least 18 units (see the Mt. SAC catalog for details).
• A minimum GPA of 2.0.
Students earning an associate’s degree for transfer will not be required to complete any other local graduation requirements.
California Community College students who are awarded an AA-T or AS-T degree are guaranteed admission with junior
standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU campus or to a
program that is deemed similar to their community college major. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific
majors or campuses.
What are the benefits of these degrees?
• Guaranteed admission to the CSU system but not to specific majors or campuses.
• Priority admissions consideration at CSUs with designated “similar” majors.
• Once admitted with one of these degrees to a CSU with a coordinating major, students will be held to no more than 60
semester units to complete their CSU degree (for majors requiring 120 semester units total).
