San Bernardino Valley College participates in the Cal Grant B and C
awards.
Cal Grant B
assists low-income students attending community colleges
with living expenses and books. The maximum award for the 2016/2017
award year is $1,656.
Cal Grant C
assists students with tuition and training costs for technical,
occupational, vocational or career training programs. The maximum award
for the 2016/2017 award year is $547 for books, tools and equipment.
Funding is available for up to two years, depending on the length of the
program. To qualify, students must be enrolled in an occupational,
technical or vocational program that is at least four months long at a

California Chafee Grant
The California Chafee Grant provides up to $5,000 per year for eligible
students who are current or former foster youth to use for career and
technical training or college courses. For more information on the CHAFEE

Full-Time Student Success Grant
The full-time student success grant provides up to $600 per year to eligible
Cal Grant B recipients who are registered in 12 or more units per semester.
Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is need-based and awarded to eligible
undergraduate students. In most cases, this grant does not need to be paid
back. You are automatically considered for the Pell Grant when you apply
and file your FAFSA application. The Federal Pell Grant may be used for
tuition, fees, books, transportation, and living expenses. Initial awards are
estimated based on the results of the FAFSA application. Award amounts
may change if criteria used in determining your eligibility, such as major,
degree status, satisfactory academic progress, income or family information
changes. Actual disbursement of the Federal Pell Grant will not be
determined until your file is completed and enrollment status has been
verified. The amount of the Pell Grant disbursement is based on the
information provided on your FAFSA application and your enrollment status.
Pell Grant awards can range from $544 to $5815 per academic award year.
