Guardian Scholars (Foster Youth Services)
(LA-139)
The Guardian Scholars Program is designed to assist young people
between the ages of 17 years to 24 years who are currently or were
formerly in foster care with the pursuit of a Post-Secondary Education.
This office is a resource to foster youth as they enter the college and assist
students with procuring the documentation that verifies that they were at
some point a foster youth according to the law. This documentation
enables the student to receive the supportive services that the Guardian
Scholars program provides.
The staff of this office will assist with the following:
•
Assistance with obtaining the necessary documentation verifying that
they are or were in foster care.
•
Assistance and /or directions in completion of all college admissions
paperwork.
•
Referral to the foster liaison in each student services office.
•
The exploration and development of an educational goal plan.
•
Assistance with the purchase of school supplies, backpacks, food
snacks, textbook purchase.

HSI STEM PASS GO (PS-121):
The Hispanic Serving Institution Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Math PASS GO Program is funded by a Title III Grant from the U.S.
Department of Education to provide support intended to enhance success,
completion, transfer, and graduation rates of Hispanic, low-income, and
traditionally under-represented students in the STEM disciplines. This
program is a partnership with California State University San Bernardino
which provides a clear and seamless pathway to assist students in
successfully transferring within the STEM disciplines to a four year
university. This partnership encourages STEM students to complete their
four-year degree on their journey to entering a rewarding STEM workforce.
