A Letter from the
President of the Student
Government Association
My Dearest Spelman Sisters,
On behalf of the 75th Administration of the Spelman Student Government Association (SGA), it is an
honor to welcome you to your first or yet another, prosperous academic school year at our beloved
Spelman College!
As you walk daily throughout campus, hold your head high and wear your beautiful smile because
you’re walking into your destiny. Yes, you! You made a choice to answer the call to change the world,
and it is at Spelman where you will prepare to do so. Along this daily journey, your SGA sisters are
your student advocates, operating by the motto, “Prepare to Prosper!”, as we are confident your
future will be prosperous!
Your Spelman journey is unique because you are the first to walk it. Many have come before you, but
you’re paving a journey unlike like rest because it is YOURS. Therefore, it is your duty to seize the
great opportunity before you! Get involved, join a Registered Student Organization (RSO), give 110%
in all of your classes, engage with the greater Atlanta community, and remain open to building
amazing bonds of sisterhood to assist you in the challenges ahead. You are more than capable of
exceeding your expectations through being disciplined, determined, and a risk-taker. Spelman is the
ideal place to challenge yourself, set new goals, form new philosophies on life, and without a doubt,
HAVE FUN. Spelman is not simply a school but an experience. Cherish each day, as your time here
is moving quickly!
Though your time will continue to move swiftly, you can count on SGA remaining constantly in your
corner. First, we are available to meet any concerns, problems or issues you may have. Secondly,
SGA is well-connected to administration to ensure they hear the voice of the student body. We are
also transparent, as we are committed to ensuring the student body is fully aware of how SGA is
working for you. And lastly, we are dedicated to our own stability, internally, to enable our efficiency
as a board. Look forward to SGA being visible within your RSOs, engage with us through our activism
with many issues such as voter registration and political engagement, attend our signature events
such as Market Friday and our Town Hall meetings, visit our website and social media platforms, and
never cease to let us know how we can better serve as your student advocates.
Congratulations on your magnificent journey…your time is NOW!
Sisterly,
Imani
