LETTER FROM THE DEAN OF STUDENTS
On behalf of our Dean of Students team, welcome to USF, students!
USF is driven to provide a world-class educational experience in an inclusive environment that contributes to student learning, development and success within and beyond the classroom. We are committed to prepare you with the knowledge, skills, experiences, and resilience required to succeed in an increasingly competitive and diverse global market. The entire USF community is here to support and guide you, as well as inspire you to collaborate, engage, and flourish here and beyond.
As you take your place in the USF community, please take full advantage of the many dedicated professional staff and programs/services they provide to help you along the way. The USF “Care Team” includes academic advisors who can help you choose an appropriate major and realize your goals. Our career counselors will advise you as you sort through many career options and help prepare you for success in your chosen field. Our staff members in engagement and residential
education departments will help you to connect with other students and find common interests. Our professors deliver insights while promoting critical thinking and problem solving using the latest technologies. Our custodians and groundskeepers will maintain innovative learning spaces and a campus that will make you proud to be a Bull. In short, USF CARES! We are here to support your timely progression to graduation with the degree of your choice.
Don’t just wait for education to come to you; go looking for it. Get to know your professors and your fellow students; get involved with a student organization (or two); participate in campus activities; cheer on our Bulls athletes; volunteer for community service; find an internship or cooperative experience; and engage in a research project with a faculty member. In doing so, you will contribute to and benefit from a vibrant and enriching campus experience during your time here.
This is the start of an exciting new journey for you. At USF, you can expect to experience and contribute to lively exchanges and powerful learning experiences in classrooms and laboratories. You will find art shows, plays, lectures, concerts, athletic events, intramurals, movies, and more – the kinds of intellectual and cultural activities that enrich your educational experience. Use this planner to organize your studies, tap into campus resources (check out usf.edu/ student-life), and chart your path to success.
