LETTER FROM THE SG PRESIDENT & VICE PRESIDENT
As you begin your journey at the University of South Florida, we are so excited to welcome you to our community! The USF community is filled with engaged and compassionate individuals, dedicated to creating a positive change in their community.
Run by more than 120 students, USF Student Government is dedicated to student advocacy and representation. We are responsible for representing the student voice to university administration and entities, allocating the Activities and Services Fee, and developing student-centered activities and initiatives.
Student Government is composed of three branches – the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive branches. In the Legislative Branch, there is Senate and Campus Council. Both entities are responsible for allocating university funds and revising university statutes that affect the student body. The Judicial Branch consists of a federal Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is responsible for interpreting university statutes and mediating issues. The Executive Branch consists of a local level led by campus Governors and a federal level led by the Student Body President and Vice President. The Executive Branch is responsible for executing initiatives, programs, agencies, and services for students.
As One USF, the Sarasota-Manatee, St. Petersburg, and Tampa campuses are unified under one entity dedicated to providing its students with numerous opportunities. Student Government consists of local and federal levels to facilitate initiatives to better the student experience while maintaining each unique campus’ culture.
As your Student Body President and Vice President, we are excited for the opportunity to develop impactful initiatives that support the student body. We will advocate for the health and wellbeing of our peers and environment with initiatives focused on mental health, sustainability, and food insecurity. We hope to empower and uplift student communities such as international, minority, LGBTQ+, and transfer students as well as emphasize survivor advocacy. We want you to know that Student Government is here for you.
We are thrilled to welcome you to the USF community. As your student representatives, we promise to listen to your voice and advocate on your behalf. We encourage you to become involved, and hope that you find your place in the USF herd!
