Graduate education at UTEP has grown tre- mendously since the first graduate degree was awarded over seventy years ago. The University currently offers 25 doctoral degree programs, 71 master’s degree programs, and 50 graduate
certificate/certification programs that collectively enroll more than 3,600 graduate students.
UTEP is a nationally recognized R1 university
by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Our faculty conduct nationally competitive research that capitalizes on the Uni- versity’s location at the heart of the U.S.-Mexico border. This includes research in biomedical and health sciences; border and regional issues; busi- ness, policy, and social sciences; communication and information technology; education, hu- manities, and the arts; environment and energy; materials and manufacturing; and transportation and infrastructure.
WHY EARN A GRADUATE DEGREE?
Depending on your interests and future goals, graduate education may be the next step on your professional and academic journey. People with advanced degrees generally enjoy higher incomes and lower unemployment rates. The Graduate School provides academic leadership and admin- istration and promotes graduate student success through admissions and enrollment support, professional development and student support programming, and outreach initiatives for current and prospective students.
