The Office of Emergency Management’s (UTEPOEM) purpose is to support the univer- sity’s overall mission through preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery from threatened or actual natural and man-made disasters or acts of terrorism.
GOAL:
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) aims to provide a safe and secure research and learning environment by educating and empow- ering the University Community on emergency preparedness through outreach and engage-
ment. These are achieved by written plans and procedures, conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, training, drills, and exercises.
LOCATION:
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is located within the Environmental Health and Safety Department at 2051 Wiggins Rd, first floor, in the El Paso Natural Gas Center.
OEM PROVIDES:
The Office of Emergency Management creates a comprehensive emergency management program for the university to save lives, protect property, promote operations continuity, and reduce the overall effects of large-scale disasters. In addi- tion to planning for the entire campus, the office works with individual departments to develop unit-based emergency plans. The office is the pri- mary liaison between the university and outside government emergency management agencies.
