                Hours of Operation
The Physical Education Complex will be open for recreation in most areas weekly. 2 p.m.-9 p.m. weekdays (Monday-Thursday) and 2 p.m.-8 p.m. on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
Early Morning Special
The complex will open at 7 a.m. Monday-Friday for use. Please avoid Physical Education Class Activities and Athletic practices. Please go to the PE Complex Facilities Office Room B042 for assistance.
General Policies
The Physical Education Complex (including Beless Gymnasium and outdoor athletic/intramural/recreational areas) is provided for the use of members of the University community. The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for scheduling all activities/areas within the P.E. Complex and associated facilities. Any person desiring to use any of the facilities should contact the Facilities Coordinator’s Office by calling 812-888-4957.
1. Students - All Fall/Spring students who are currently enrolled with activity fees paid may enter and utilize the facilities upon scanning of a VALID V.U. PICTURE ID.
2. Guests - Student guests and faculty/staff guests must sign in with the ID Desk and are limited to an occasional visitor. One visitor per eligible user. Consult the posted rules on semester schedules for the specific rules and regulations.
3. Equipment Check-out - Equipment may be checked out of the PE Complex Facilities Office Room B042 (lower level) by presenting and leaving a valid ID card (student/faculty/staff). Individuals will complete a check-out form and accept responsibility for the equipment. Damage or late fees may be assessed for misuse or unreturned items. A full array of equipment is available. 4. Towels - Eligible users may check out a towel. It is considered an equipment item and is handled exactly as another piece of equipment.
5. Locker rooms - Eligible users may obtain a locker for use by completing a locker agreement form through the Equipment Room and by providing a combination lock. Five (5) locker rooms are located within the Complex. Check with the facilities staff to locate the proper room you are to use and for its availability.
6. Racquetball Courts - One (1) court is available for use by eligible users. Reservations may be made in person or by calling 812-888-4957 us to one day in advance, for one hour/day. Protective eyewear is recommended while playing.
7. Upper Deck Activities - This area is used to P.E. classes, Athletics and Intramural events. Please restrict recreational play to the Student Recreation Center.
8. Main Gym Floor - This floor is used for P.E. classes, Athletics, and Intramural events. Please restrict recreational play to the upper decks.
9. Physical Fitness Center (S) - The centers are available with an array of free weights, Magnum single-station units, and aerobic stations. All equipment will be used for its intended purpose. Consult the listing of rules outside each entrance. Weight belts are available for check-out.
10. Beless Gym - Extensively used for Intramurals, Athletic practices, and Physical Education classes. Call the Facilities Coordinator at 812-888-4957 for use.
11. Bowling Lanes - Eighteen- (18) bowling lanes are available, along with 2 pool tables and a variety of video games. Call 812-888-4393 for information/counter.
12. Outdoor Recreational Facilities - Multiple outdoor facilities are available for use. Two (2) outdoor sand volleyball courts, two (2) basketball courts, and an intramural field with two softball play areas, an 8-lane, 400-meter running/walking track. The intramural field, sand volleyball courts, and basketball courts lights will be available until 11 p.m. each night during good weather.
13. Dance Studios - We have 2 separate dance studios located in the basement of the PE Complex. PE classes will be taught in these dance studios. These will be available to rent out starting after 5 pm. To make a reservation, please contact the Facilities Coordinator.
Rules for P.E. Complex
1. ID’s - All users will have on their person; their current Blazer One VU ID card at all times, and will present it
upon entering, to the appropriate building employee.
2. Appropriate Clothing/Footwear
a. Clothing: All users will dress in the appropriate athletic attire for the activity in which they are participating.
