OFFICE OF STUDENT SUCCESS & EQUITY
Administration Building 17 | (66) 395-4950
The Office of Student Success & Equity supports Bakersfield College’s mission to expand educational access and opportunity
for all students. This commitment is expressed in the college mission:
Bakersfield College provides opportunities for students from diverse economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds to attain
Associate and Baccalaureate degrees and certificates, workplace skills, and preparation for transfer. Our rigorous and
supportive learning environment fosters students’ abilities to think critically, communicate effectively, and demonstrate
competencies and skills in order to engage productively in their communities and the world.
SS&E staff work collaboratively with existing campus programs, departments, and services to improve student success among
a number of indicators: 1) access, 2) basic skills completion, 3) course completion, 4) degree/certificate completion, and 5)
transfer. You can find us on campus supporting outreach, counseling, the Veterans Center, foster youth initiatives, and more.
Staff in Student Success & Equity are here to support and advocate for students from entry through completion. Specifically,
students can make an appointment to meet with a dedicated counselor or educational advisor committed to African American
Initiatives, work with AB540 Dream Act students, or those in the Bakersfield College Transfer Promise Program.
