NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
New Student Orientation is for all new students. Orientation sessions are designed to provide you
with resources and information to increase your success.
New Student Orientation activities held prior to the start of the fall and spring semesters may
include the opportunity to:
•
Meet LTC faculty and staff, learn their roles and how they may assist you in reaching
your educational goals
•
Receive information on relevant resources and how to access them in the future
•
Get a student photo ID card, parking permit, and complete an emergency card
•
Increase comfort level for first day of classes at LTC
STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA)
LTC Student Government Association (SGA) is an organization of student representatives from various
programs whose executive officers are elected by the student body. LTC SGA provides students with the
opportunity to participate in democratic self-government. LTC SGA provides liaison between the
administration, faculty, staff, and students;; promotes citizenship/leadership;; operates as the students’
official voice in school government;; and acquires information for dissemination to the student body. LTC
SGA operates according to a constitution with the assistance of college-appointed LTC SGA Staff
Advisors. Official meetings are held once a month during the school year. Elected LTC SGA student
officers also participate in statewide student advocacy activities through Wisconsin Student Government.
STUDENT LIFE
The Student Life program at Lakeshore Technical College is viewed as an integral part of your total
educational experience. It is dedicated to experiences that broaden your cultural horizons, provide
outlets for self-expression, prepare for the workplace, and have fun. Monies from the supplemental fee
contribute to student recognition awards and club assistance and support all LTC Student Government
Association (SGA) activities and services (in general).
STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
LTC Student Government Association (SGA) approves and supports student clubs and associations. All
LTC students are welcome to join LTC SGA clubs and associations. Active involvement outside the
classroom promotes beneficial learning experiences that further develop and enrich students’
interpersonal and professional skills.
