II. DISCRIMINATION COMPLAINT PROCEDURES
To insure that students and employees of the District are aware of the provisions of this procedure, a
general statement will be published in each class schedule and a bulletin will be circulated to each
District employee.
The following procedures are in compliance with the guidelines of state law:
1.
Student discrimination complaints may be filed with the Office of Student Services at each college.
2.
Employee complaints may be filed with the Office of Instruction at each college.
3.
All complaints should be forwarded to the District Equal Opportunity Officer on the approved
district form.
a.
Upon receipt of a complaint, a copy will be forwarded to the State Chancellor’s Office on the
appropriate form.
b.
Defective complaints will be returned to the complainant with an explanation of the
deficiencies and how they may be corrected if the complaint is to be considered.
4.
Within fourteen (14) days of the complaint, an investigation will commence with notification to the
complainant of the initiation of the investigation.
5.
If the complaint proves to be accurate, a resolution of the problem will be proposed and corrective
actions taken to ensure that the act is not repeated.
6.
After a proposed resolution is developed and approved, the complainant will be notified of the
resolution. Should the complainant not be satisfied, he/she may object to the proposed resolution
through the State Chancellor’s Office within thirty (30) days. The District Office of Equal
Opportunity will furnish the complainant with necessary in-formation regarding where and how to
file the objection with the State.
7.
After the resolution proposal is sent to the complainant, the District will forward the complete file of
the complaint; findings of the investigation; the District’s proposed resolution; the letter to the
complainant informing him/her of the proposal; and any relevant material to the State Chancellor’s
Office.
