students and alumni of Northeast State Community College in all aspects of career advising and
professional planning. A dedicated staff is available to assist with resume development, cover
letters, interviewing, and job search planning. Additionally, the office can assist individuals with

Career and Technical Education (CTE)
(Room F207, Blountville) – Career and Technical
Education’s primary goal is to link career and technical education programs at the secondary level
with Associate of Applied Science Degree programs at the post-secondary level. These linkages
focus on establishing and maintaining CTE Career Academies, Dual Credit/Articulation
opportunities, Career Day activities, and management of the Perkins IV Grant. Dual
Credit/Articulation and CTE Career Academies allow students to earn college credit in Certificate
and Associate of Applied Science Degree programs prior to graduating from high school. CTE hosts
several campus events each year with the goal of teaching high school students about career
pathways and academic programs within the applied science academic areas. CTE is also
responsible for developing strategies and implementing programs that increase the enrollment,
retention, and placement of students in Associate of Applied Science Degree programs. For more

Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD)
(Room C1102, Blountville) – It is the goal of
Northeast State Community College to assure equal educational opportunities for individuals with
disabilities. Therefore, the Center for Students with Disabilities provides services and academic
accommodations for students with disabilities who self-identify as having a disability and who
provide appropriate documentation of the disability. Documentation guidelines are available upon
request. Any student with a disability wishing to arrange or obtain approved accommodations must
contact the Center for Students with Disabilities. According to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
of 1973 and the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a student with a disability is someone
who has a physical or mental impairment; has a history of impairment; or is believed to have a
disability that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities; such as learning, speaking,
working, hearing, breathing, caring of oneself, performing manual tasks, seeing, or walking.
Services and accommodations for individuals with disabilities include, but are not limited to the

Appropriate accommodations are determined on an individual basis as per disability and/or
diagnostic documentation. It is the student’s responsibility to provide appropriate documentation. To
obtain accommodations, students must schedule a needs assessment with the Director. After receipt
