Academic Support Center
The VUJC Academic Support Center (ASC) is a convenient resource free to all VUJC
students. ASC offers tutoring in many subjects each semester. They have both peer (student)
and professional (degree) tutors available to help. You do not need an appointment. Schedules
are posted outside the center and around campus.
ASC has math CDs and DVDs for students to borrow and watch at home. There is also a
collection of videos available in a variety of topics, such as note taking, study skills, test
anxiety, and more, for students to watch in the center. They have handouts on using
Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, as well as copies of the APA and MLA style books for use.
If you need to make up a test you missed in class, you may be asked to take it in the Academic
Support Center. Please call and make an appointment to take a make-up test.
Counseling
The Vincennes University Jasper Campus Counseling Office offers comprehensive behavioral
and emotional counseling to VUJC students. Our counselor is a professional staff member
who is licensed by state and national accreditation boards. Therapeutic services are
confidential, and are free of charge. Students are accepted by self-referral as well as on
referral of others. Depression, anxiety, family or other relationship difficulties, eating
disorders, and alcohol or other drug abuse are just a few of the types of problems addressed.
Staff members are available to assist sexual assault victims through emergency room
procedures, and if requested may meet with family members to facilitate initial coping
strategies. In addition to direct therapeutic services, referrals to local social service agencies
and medical resources are facilitated when appropriate. Consultation and educational
materials about a variety of topics are also available to individuals and groups. Those
interested in services may

Disability Services
The Director of Student Services reviews and determines appropriate accommodations for
students with disabilities. Students seeking assistance are required to provide copies of
medical or psychometric evaluations that document the presence of a disability and the impact
of the disability on the student’s level of functioning. The Director of Student Services also
coordinates the availability of assistive technology at various campus locations to provide
accessible classroom materials and equipment. VU complies with the requirements set by the
ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to assure the rights of individuals with
disabilities to fair, non-discriminatory treatment. It is the student’s responsibility to seek out
accommodations, if needed. For more detailed information visit

Services.

Student Aid (FAFSA) and for institutional aid by completing the VU scholarship application.
