Health Center
812-888-4277
The Vincennes University Health Center is located on the first floor of the Young Building on the corner of Fourth and
College Streets. The Health Center is staffed with two registered nurses and a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. The
physicians at the Medical Center of Vincennes serve as medical consultants to the University.
Office hours will be Monday through Friday, except on University holidays. The University nurses are available for assessment
of illnesses and injuries on a fifteen minute appointment schedule. They may provide over the counter medications, initial and
follow-up care of injuries, tetanus/diphtheria injections following an injury if indicated, and tuberculin screening.
Health services provided by the registered nurses are available for all students. In addition, the VU Medical Care program
has been revised to better serve the needs of Vincennes University students. The Medical Care Program is included in the
room and board fee for Residence Hall students. Off campus students may enroll in the program by completing the
application form, and submitting the per semester fee to the Health Center.
Under the Vincennes University Medical Care Program, appointments with the Nurse Practitioner if needed will be covered
with a $5.00 co-payment due at the time of service. Off campus students not enrolled in the medical program may be
referred to a local medical facility within the Vincennes community; however they will have to pay the usual and customary
fee at the time of service or have private insurance that may be filed.
The required immunization records must be submitted to the Health Office prior to the beginning semester. The
history/physical form is required for certain majors, and this may be submitted with the immunization records. The
immunization data is a requirement under the College Immunization Law for incoming students since the fall semester of
1995. Failure to complete the immunization requirements prior to the end of the student’s first semester of attendance will
make the student ineligible for subsequent semesters. Once students complete the immunization requirements, they will be
allowed to register for their next semester if other University requirements are met. Students will also receive information
about bacterial meningitis, and need to return the signed acknowledgment or provide documentation for the meningitis
vaccination to the Health Office. If you have health/immunization questions, or special health needs, please contact the
Health Office at 812-888-4277.
