Office of Diverse Abilities and Accommodations 812-888-4501 Learning Resource Center The office of Diverse Abilities and Accommodations at Vincennes University offers resources to all students with disabilities. Staff in the office of Diverse Abilities and Accommodations are committed to creating a “safe place” where students with disabilities feel respected and valued, and where they find meaningful support from caring professionals who encourage them to be independent and successful, as well as vital, contributing members of our community. Our services help students with diverse abilities participate more fully in educational programming, benefit from an accessible environment and achieve greater academic and personal success. The promotion of student independence and self-advocacy is instrumental to our mission and remains a major tenet of our philosophy for working with all our students. All currently enrolled Vincennes University students with diverse abilities, on any Vincennes University campus, are invited to register with the office of Diverse Abilities and Accommodations. We work with students with all types of disabilities including, but not limited to, physical, learning, neurological, psychological, developmental, and health impairments. We also work with students who may have temporary disabilities related to accidents, injury or sudden illness. Dean of Students 812-888-4241 Beckes Student Union Located on the second floor of the Beckes Student Union, Room 224, the Dean of Students Office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and assists students with absence verification, official withdrawals, drop appeals, book loans, and any other student issues/concerns. University Police 812-888-5555 Vincennes University Police Department (UPD) Located at 1201 N. 2nd Street, the Vincennes University Police Department is available 24/7 and 365 days a year to assist members of the entire campus community with safety and security, emergency response, crime prevention, investigations, educational programs, personal protection training, and parking enforcement. Our objective is to work alongside and in partnership with the community and to provide the highest quality of professional police and safety services. The following information is the parking rules, regulations, and procedures that have been adopted by the Vincennes University Board of Trustees. All of these regulations are applicable to Vincennes University employees, students, guests, and visitors of the University, unless otherwise provided. Any employee, student, or guest who brings a vehicle to campus is responsible for obtaining an appropriate and valid parking permit and for the proper operation and parking of that vehicle. It is the responsibility of each member of the University community to read, understand and abide by the regulations. Ignorance of the regulations is not an acceptable reason for appeal of a violation. Vincennes University Police Officers or specially designated personnel will issue parking citations for parking and registration violations in accordance with these regulations and State Law. The following regulations shall govern the driving and parking of motor vehicles on the Vincennes University campus at all times of the year, 365 days, unless specifically stated otherwise. General Parking Rules and Regulations 1. All employees and students of Vincennes University must obtain and properly display a current Vincennes University parking permit in order to legally park on any Vincennes University owned or controlled property. Permits must be purchased at the Vincennes University Police Department. Permits may be ordered online at https://vupd.thepermitstore.com/ but must be picked up in person. 2. Campus community members are restricted to parking in their assigned lots and/or parking spaces from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There are no lot restrictions for vehicles with current permits between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, and all day during weekends, holidays, or campus closures. EXCEPTION: Specially marked spaces or those assigned to an individual or group are enforced 24/7 and 365 days a year. 3. Each employee or student of Vincennes University must obtain one parking permit per vehicle they drive to campus. Permits are issued for the academic school year (Fall, Spring, and Summer) and expire on the 15th of August each year. 4. The parking permit must be properly displayed by affixing the permit inside the lower left hand side of the driver’s side windshield. EXCEPTION: Community members who purchase permits for motorcycles should consult with UPD regarding proper display. A vehicle not properly displaying a current parking permit while parked on University property will be ticketed and may be booted or towed at the owner’s expense. 5. If a parking permit is lost or stolen, it becomes the responsibility of the employee, student, or guest to file a lost or stolen permit report with UPD immediately. A fee of $10.00 will be assessed for a replacement permit. 6. Residential Student Permits (Red) - Any vehicle properly displaying a current Residential or red permit must park only in the lots or 27 parking spaces designated for RESIDENTIAL/RED PERMITS, ALL PERMIT PARKING/YELLOW, or along a cub on a public street that is not striped yellow. The cost of a Residential/Red is $30.00. Other fees may apply.
