All meetings shall be held on campus, with exceptions for special events.
Members shall be chosen without regard for race, religion, age, sex, color, gender,
physical or mental disability or national origin.
Clubs shall have established educational, cultural and social aims, while being
compatible with college and community interest.
A written club constitution approved by the Student Council and the director of
student life shall be on file in the Student Life Office.
A current roster of membership shall be regularly maintained in the Student Life
Office.
An authorized faculty and/or staff adviser shall sign the registration card for any
event planned by the organization. For special off-campus events, it is required that
the adviser or substitute approved by the director of student life be present.
An activity must be cleared in advance and placed on the Master Calendar in the
Student Life Office.
All club receipts shall be deposited in the Business Office and be subject to the
accounting of the ASB Treasurer and Accountant.
Organization members shall be held responsible for their conduct as it affects
Compton College in representing the organization on or off campus.
Hazing activities are not permitted, under the State of California Education Code
(Div. 9 Ch. 1, Art. 8):

“No student, or other person in attendance at any public, private, parochial,
or military school, college or other educational institution, shall conspire to
haze, engage in hazing, or commit any act that injures, degrades, or
disgraces, or tends to injure, degrade, or disgrace any fellow student or
person attending the institution. The violation of this section is a
misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $50, not more than $500
or imprisonment in the County Jail for not more than six months.”
POLITICAL CLUBS
California Education Code, section 25512, holds that: “Any student political organization
which is affiliated with the official youth division of any political party that is on the ballot
of the State of California may hold meetings on a community college campus and
distribute bulletins and circulars concerning its meetings, provided there is no
endorsement of such organization by the school authorities and no interference with the
regular educational program of the school.”
STUDENT LOUNGE
The Student Lounge is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 7:30
a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday. The cafeteria is located adjacent
to the Student Lounge and provides a dining, relaxation and study space for students.
No activities occurring in the Student Lounge shall interrupt students, staff or other
activities.
The Student Life Office provides bulletins and helps with club publicity and posting of
bulletin boards. Rules governing the use of the Student Lounge are reviewed by the
Student Council.
