• International Education Week – Various departments join to
recognize International Education Week, a celebration of world
cultures. This year’s dates are November 13-17.
• Go Texan Day Party – Students join in a city-wide celebration of
Texas pride and the kick off the Houston Livestock Show &
Rodeo. We celebrate with fair food, mechanical bull riding,
drawings for rodeo tickets, and other fun games.

• CajunFest – This is an annual spring event with entertainment,
zydeco music, and…of course…a crawfish boil! It’s a campus
favorite, for sure!

Student Life events are open to all LSC-North Harris, Victory, and
Greenspoint students. For most events, the student’s LSC student ID
must be presented. See the calendar portion of this planner to find out
what has been scheduled. More events will be added, so watch the
campus bulletin boards and web calendar to find out more information
on these and other activities. Don’t miss out on all the fun!
Leadership Development
The Office of Student Life is committed to assisting students in exploring
and developing leadership skills. In addition to experiential learning
through involvement in student organizations, there are several
opportunities through formalized programs.
• Lone Star Leadership College – LSC-North Harris joins our sister
colleges in this LSC system-wide leadership program. Students
go into the community to visit with established leaders to network
and learn more about their systems. Students commit to
participating for a full academic year, and the cohort of students
meets throughout the fall and spring semesters. Applications are
due September 15. For more information and to find the

RSO Workshops – Student Life presents annual workshops for
Registered Student Organization (RSO) officers. Topics include
risk management, event planning, and effective communication.
RSO officers can choose to attend any one of these workshops:
North Harris: September 26 or 27 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Greenspoint Center: October 4 from 1:30-3:00 p.m.
Victory Center: October 5 from 1:30-3:00 p.m.
Fall LEAD! Retreat – The Fall LEAD! Retreat is a 2-day off-
campus retreat to connect with peers and with nature while
learning more about leadership. This year’s retreat is scheduled
for October 27-28. Participants must sign up in advance with a
$25 deposit in the Office of Student Life (SC 202). Deposits are
