Find the perfect spot to work, whether you need quiet or noise, solitude or group
meeting space, or take a break to explore our exhibits. Library staff members are
available and happy to work with you on your information quests. Stop at the
Research/IT desk for assistance with research and technology issues, or make an
appointment to meet one-on-one with a librarian for more in-depth help with
your research (go.carleton.edu/YourLibrarian). Online guides to help you
navigate our resources at gouldguides.carleton.edu. The Writing Center is also
located in the library on the main floor across from Oscar the Penguin.
While you’re here, explore our collection of over 500,000 books, 2,400 print
journals, 12,000 videos, and 270,000 government documents. We’re a part of
the Bridge Consortium with St. Olaf, which gives you access to their collections
as well. The library website also provides access to over 69,000 online journals,
over 620,000 e-book titles, hundreds of indexes to articles, reserve readings, and
collections of data, images, movies, and more. If you don't find what you need
here, our InterLibrary Loan service can get you articles and books from around
the world. Contact Special Collections to learn more about their maps, artists’
books, polar exploration materials, and other primary sources. The College
Archives maintains documents, photos, and other materials that pertain to the

Music Resource Center

The Music Resource Center (MRC) is a library/computer lab with reference
books, scores, and audiovisual materials to support the Music Department's
curriculum. Materials held here are listed in the Carleton Library catalog.
Computers are equipped with MIDI keyboards and music writing/editing
software. The MRC also houses recordings of on-campus music performances.
