Florida Atlantic University is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination. It is against
the policy of the University to discriminate against, or exclude from participation
in benefits or activities, either on the staff or in the student body, any person on the
grounds of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, or mental or
physical disablement, provided such disablement, with reasonable accommodation,
does not prevent satisfactory work performance. This nondiscrimination policy also
relates to the University’s actions concerning choice of contractors and suppliers of
goods and services and to the use of University facilities.

The Office of Equity, Inclusion and Compliance promotes a working and learning
environment free from any form of unlawful discrimination or harassment.
We focus on the needs of the University community through establishing
meaningful partnerships with faculty, students, staff, administrators and the
public. The office supports the incorporation of inclusion and diversity in its
programming as well as training initiatives.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) prohibits discrimination
based on gender in educational programs which receive federal financial
assistance. Athletics are one component of Title IX. Other programs and
activities which may be included are: recruitment, admissions, financial aid, and
scholarships; course offerings and access; hiring and retention; and, benefits and
leave. Title IX also protects students and employees, both male and female, from
unlawful sexual harassment in school programs and activities.
