1.
Students
- All Fall/Spring students who are currently enrolled with activity fees paid may enter and utilize the facilities
upon scanning of a VALID V.U. PICTURE ID.
2.
Guests
- Student guests and faculty/staff guests must sign in with the ID Desk and are limited to an occasional visitor.
One visitor per eligible user. Consult the posted rules on semester schedules for the specific rules and regulations.
3.
Equipment Check-out
- Equipment may be checked out of the Equipment Room (lower level) by presenting and
leaving a valid ID card (student/faculty/staff). Individuals will complete a check-out form and accept responsibility for
the equipment. Damage or late fees may be assessed for misuse or unreturned items. A full array of equipment is
available. For information, call 888-5546.
4.
Towels
- Eligible users may check out a towel. It is considered an equipment item and is handled exactly as another
piece of equipment.
5.
Locker room/Sauna use
- Eligible users may obtain a locker for use by completing a locker agreement form through
the Equipment Room and by providing a combination lock. Five (5) locker rooms are located within the Complex.
Check with the facilities staff to locate the proper room you are to use and for its availability. Four of five locker rooms
have saunas available. Please familiarize yourself with the posted rules.
6. RACQUETBALL COURTS - Two (2) courts are available for use by eligible users. Reservations may be made in
person or by phoning 888-5546 up to one day in advance, for one hour/day. Protective eyewear is recommended while
playing.
7. UPPER DECK ACTIVITIES - Multiple basketball, volleyball, badminton, pickle ball, and tennis courts are available
for use during open recreation. See a staff member for set-ups.
8. SWIMMING POOL – Consult the Aquatic Center section for details. Kickboards and buoys are available for
recreational use. POOL RULES are posted on the pool deck and in the locker rooms for a list of do's and don'ts.
Everyone must shower before entering the pool. No shoes on pool deck.
9. MAIN GYM FLOOR - This floor is used for P.E. classes, Athletics, and Intramural events. Please restrict recreational
play to the upper decks.
10. ARCHERY ROOM - P.E. Archery and self-defense classes use this room along with Intramurals. Supervised
recreation time may be checked by picking up an Open Recreation schedule. Equipment is available for use, including
heavy bags and archery targets.
11. PHYSICAL FITNESS CENTER (S) - The centers are available with an array of free weights, Magnum single-station
units, and aerobic stations. All equipment will be used for its intended purpose. Consult the listing of rules outside each
entrance. Weight belts are available for check-out.
12. BELESS GYM - Extensively used for Intramurals, Athletic practices, and Physical Education classes and Open
Recreation. Call 888-5470 for use.
13. BOWLING LANES - Eighteen- (18) bowling lanes are available, along with 5 pool tables and a variety of video
games. A short-order Snack Bar is open in the area. Call 888-4393 for information/counter or 888-4395 for scheduling.
14. OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
- Multiple outdoor facilities are available for use. Two (2) outdoor sand
volleyball courts, eight (8) tennis courts and hitting walls, two (2) basketball courts, and a double softball field play
area, with an 8-lane, 400 meter running/walking track. The softball field, sand volleyball courts, and tennis court lights
will be available until 11:00 pm each night during good weather. The baseball and soccer fields are restricted use
areas. Open recreation will be limited in these areas.
15. INDOOR WALKING-JOGGING - The Human Performance Division offers approximately 100 classes/sections (many
of which use the main floor/upper decks), athletic teams, Intramural events, and various special events that prevent
specific walking/jogging times from being set. We ask for your COOPERATION to restrict activity to areas not
occupied by classes, athletics, etc. or use the Student Recreation Center Track.
Rules for P.E. Complex
1.
ID's -
All users will have on their person; their current Blazer One VU ID card at all times, and will present it upon
entering, to the appropriate building employee.
2.
Appropriate Clothing/Footwear
a. Clothing: All users will dress in the appropriate athletic attire for the activity in which they are participating. Pool -
Bathing suits and/or hemmed shorts must be worn. No shoes allowed on the pool deck. Gym Area - Proper athletic
footwear, t-shirts, shorts, socks, warm- ups, must be worn while participating. No jeans or dresses.
b. Footwear: clean, non-marking athletic footwear appropriate for the activity will be worn.
3.
Behavior -
While in the Human Performance Facilities, users will follow behavioral expectations of the University.
a. Basketball Dunking is allowed, however, hanging on or breaking down the rim is abusive and excessive, and
therefore will not be allowed.
b. Foul Language and Profanity not allowed in the P.E. Complex.
c. Any student or user caught fighting will be asked to leave the facility and may face suspension of use and
University reprimands.
