1. Parking in any posted reserve area not allowed by your parking permit; (i.e. students in staff parking
areas.)
2. Parking in a posted fire lane or fire hydrant space/area;
3. Parking in a posted visitor space without the required permit.
4. Parking along a yellow curb or across a yellow line;
5. Parking on a sidewalk;
6. Partially or completely blocking a street, a roadway, a driveway, right-of-way, or another vehicle;
7. Parking in such a manner that takes space for two or more vehicles;
8. Blocking any building entrance;
9. Parking on landscaped or improved areas;
10. Parking in any area posted “Authorized Vehicles Only.”
11. Parking in violation of 49-660 and 49-661 Idaho Statutes.
12. Parking without the appropriate NIC parking hang tag not properly displayed or a visitor permit not
easily readable from outside of the vehicle.
13. Parking at the meters (with or without NIC Hang Tag) without paying (expired meter). Handicap
plated or placard vehicles do not need to pay.
FINES
1. $141.50 - Parking in handicapped space.
$40 - all other parking infractions.
2. Any fine, except fire lane, hydrant, or handicapped violations, paid within seven (7) calendar days of
the citation will be charged one-half the face amount on the citation. There are no fine reductions for
fire lane, hydrant, or handicapped violations. North Idaho College parking citations for Handicapped
violations are not exclusive and additional City and or State penalties may also apply.
RESTRICTED AREAS/TOW AWAY ZONES
At the discretion of the individual person from Parking/Security Services, North Idaho College
reserves the right to tow, at the owner’s expense, any vehicle, with or without a parking permit, that is
improperly parked, whether or not said vehicle creates a hazard or is attended or unattended. North
Idaho College assumes no liability for any damage to any vehicle towed under this section. Any
vehicle that has accrued one to five or more parking citations is subject to being towed without notice.
Towing may occur for violation of:
• Handicapped spaces, fire lanes, fire hydrant areas, and/or other designated areas requiring a
proper and valid permit.
• Continual violators with five or more unpaid parking violations.
• Campus Security Officers may use their discretion in the towing of vehicles.
PAYMENT OF FINES/TICKET APPEALS
1. To clear a ticket by payment, present the ticket with payment to the Parking Services Office
during regular daily office hours.
2. To appeal a ticket, do the following:
• Obtain a Parking & Traffic Appeals Form from the Parking Services Office.
• Complete and return the Appeal form with ticket attached to the Parking Services Office
within seven calendar days of date of issuance.
• The Traffic Appeals Committee will review the appeal. You will be notified by mail of the
decision.
• Upon receipt of the decision, present the form to the Parking Services Office to clear the
ticket or pay the appropriate fine.
• Tickets that have not been cleared will have a hold placed on the record. Holds must be
released by the Parking Services Office and may take up to 48 hours to clear.
