SECTION 3: CAMPUS PARKING REGULATIONS
Location: Student Union Building Main Floor – Cardinal Card Office: Phone: 769-5902
Motor vehicle regulations on the North Idaho College campus have been authorized by the NIC Board
of Trustees. Copies of the Campus Parking Procedures/Regulations are available to all students and
staff through the Cardinal Card Office. Vehicle registration and parking enforcement is managed by
the Campus Security/Cardinal Card Office located on the main floor of the Student Union Building.
General student and staff parking regulations are effective 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
and until 2:30pm on Fridays. Designated restricted parking spaces are in effect 24 hours a day.
Permits are not required for evening or summer classes.
Responsibility for locating a legal parking space rests with the motor vehicle operator. Lack of readily
available space is not an excuse for violation of parking regulations. There are 1,712 parking spaces
available for students of which over 233 are no-fee parking spaces. Except for designated reserve
areas, parking is open on the NIC campus.
The following regulations and traffic laws apply on all property owned, leased, and/or controlled by
North Idaho College:
1. The motor vehicle and other traffic laws of the State of Idaho.
2. The North Idaho College parking and traffic regulations.
STUDENT PARKING
Students parking on Campus Property are required to have a current North Idaho Parking Hang Tag
that must be displayed from the vehicle rear view mirror. Each permit must be accompanied by a
registration card and kept on file in the Cardinal Card Office. For the purpose of this section, vehicle
means car, truck, van, recreational vehicle, and all other vehicles requiring registration under Title 49
Idaho Statutes. Motorcycles and vehicles displaying a valid handicap plate or placard are exempt and
do not require a parking hang tag.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Students requiring Handicapped Parking must apply to the Department of Motor Vehicles for
handicap parking plates or placards. Vehicles displaying a handicap plate or placard should utilize
designated handicap parking spaces first, but may also park in designated staff parking when no
handicap space is available, parking at the meters is also free
