CENTER FOR NEW DIRECTIONS

The Center for New Directions (CND) at North Idaho College (NIC) is designed to assist student and
community single parents and displaced homemakers with community resources and the exploration
of career and educational pathways. Additionally the CND delivers retention and completion support
programs to students and future students who are enrolled in or express an interest in Career
Technical Education (CTE) and meet one of the following criteria:
Career Pioneers: Anyone who is training to work in a field traditionally held by the opposite
gender.
Single Parents: Unemployed or underemployed people who are responsible for a
dependent in the home.
Displaced Homemakers: Anyone who must seek training or paid employment outside of
the home due to separation, divorce, death, or disability of spouse.
CHILDREN’S CENTER

The NIC Children's Center is a nationally accredited, dual-function early childhood program that
serves as NIC's Child Development Lab School while providing high-quality child care services to
NIC's students, faculty and staff. Our mission is to provide a high-quality lab setting for NIC's
students to obtain the skills necessary for working with young children in a
developmentally appropriate manner, while also providing an accessible and affordable student
service that enables NIC's students to attend classes and meet their educational goals. Our services
are prioritized for children of NIC students with 6 or more credits. Students taking 12 or more credits
receive a student discount on their child care tuition. We also serve children of NIC faculty and staff,
however slots are very limited due to the prioritization of student's children when enrolling from the
waiting list. The Center is open fall and spring semesters only and is closed during non-school days

COMPUTER CENTER
Location: Library Bldg/Computer Center Phone: 769-3251
The Student Computer Lab is located on the second floor of the Molstead Library Computer Center.
The lab consists of four bays of virus protected PCs, and one bay of Apple Computers.
Student lab consultants are available to assist students during lab hours. Student Identification cards
are required for use of the computer lab facility. This is a “Pay for Print Facility”. The Molstead
Computer Lab uses the “Go Print” Pay for Print Management System. Each student will have optional
payment purses available for funding their printing needs. A free $2.00 quota purse has been
established each semester. Any additional money for printing can be added to a Cardinal Cash
account either in the Cardinal Card Office, or through the Get Funds link under the Current Students
tab at

who are here to assist you toward successful completion of your program and studies. To learn more
