ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a program designed for individuals 16 years of age and older who
have withdrawn from public school. We also serve adults who have graduated, from high school, but
still have a desire to upgrade their basic skills for transition to college and/or employment.
Tuition is
free
and most learning materials are provided
The ABE program allows students to progress at their own pace. The program offers small group
instruction to achieve goals set for each individual student.
GED® PREPARATION
Adult Basic Education (ABE) is also available for students 16 years of age and older who do not have a
high school diploma and wish to earn a GED. Preparation to take the GED test is available through ABE.
GED® Testing
Students must register, schedule and pay for the GED tests online. You may do so by going to
and creating an account. Each test is $30.00.
ATHLETICS

The North Idaho College athletics department provides intercollegiate programs in ten sports: men and
women’s basketball, men and women’s soccer, men and women’s golf, wrestling, women’s softball,
women’s volleyball, and cheerleading. Students get free admission to games with their student ID.
BOOKSTORE: THE MICA PEAK EXCHANGE

The NIC Bookstore, known as the “Mica Peak Exchange,” is located in the Edminster Student Union
Building. Textbooks and school and computer supplies are available, as well as learning and self-study
aids, research supplies and accessories, snacks, student-priced software, personal health items,
backpacks, briefcases, imprinted caps and apparel, and gift items.

CARDINAL CARD

Fees: New student or new employee: no cost Replacement Card $20.00
All students and employees at North Idaho College and NIC-supported outreach centers need to have
a Cardinal Card for identification purposes. This card serves as the college’s official
student/employee photo ID and should be carried at all times and made available to Campus Security
upon request. The Cardinal Card can be used for building, office, and campus housing access. In
addition, this card is used for meal programs, financial aid verification, bookstore purchases, library
services, printing services and admission to programs, as well as access to athletics activities and
computer lab use.
